Furness Abbey Mug

£1000

Furness Abbey is a ruined Cistercian monastery located near the town of Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria, England. The abbey was founded in 1123 by Stephen, Count of Boulogne, and was dedicated to St Mary.

Over the centuries, Furness Abbey grew to become one of the wealthiest and most powerful abbeys in England, with a vast estate that covered much of the surrounding countryside. The monks who lived here were known for their skills in agriculture, ironworking, and mining.
