The Needles is a series of chalk stacks located off the western coast of the Isle of Wight, a small island located off the southern coast of England. They are one of the most famous and recognizable landmarks on the island.
The Needles were formed by erosion of the soft chalk cliffs that make up much of the island's coastline. The stacks rise up to 30 meters above the sea, and are visible from many points along the coast.
The Needles is also home to a historic lighthouse, which was built in 1859 and is still in operation today.
