Galley Head is a promontory located on the south coast of Ireland, in the county of Cork. It is situated between the towns of Clonakilty and Kinsale and overlooks the Celtic Sea.
Galley Head is home to a historic lighthouse, which was built in 1878 to guide ships along the coastline. The lighthouse stands 53 meters above sea level and has a range of 18 nautical miles. It was automated in 1979 and is now monitored by the Irish Lights organization.
The headland is also a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, offering scenic walks along the rugged coastline, as well as opportunities for birdwatching and whale watching. There are several trails that lead through the headland's fields, forests, and rocky cliffs, providing stunning views of the surrounding landscape and the Atlantic Ocean.
