The Pepperpot Coaster
The Pepperpot is a historic building located on the Isle of Wight, which is a picturesque island off the southern coast of England. The Pepperpot is a small tower-like structure that serves as a prominent landmark in the village of Godshill, known for its thatched cottages, scenic countryside, and quaint charm.
The Pepperpot, also known as St. Catherine's Oratory, is a medieval-style octagonal tower that stands at about 35 feet tall. It was built in 1328 by Walter de Godeton, a local landowner, as a lighthouse and a navigational aid for ships sailing in the English Channel. The tower was originally built with an open flame at its top, which was used to guide ships safely around the treacherous rocky coast of the Isle of Wight.
